About Us

On Yorkshire Day (August 1) 2022, Taylor's on the Green opened its doors for the very first time. Timothy Taylor's very own Keighley-based tap and kitchen. Previously know as The Lord Rodney, the site was given a £300,000 refurbishment, improving all aspects of the pub.

The name Taylor’s on the Green reflects the brewery's position in the town and our close relationship to them and their 164-year history.

Timothy Taylor established the brewery in the centre of Keighley in 1858, moving to the Knowle Spring, their present site, in 1863. The principle of never accepting second best was laid down from day one and remains still.

They have a long heritage of brewing award-winning ales, with their Landlord winning more awards than any other beer, winning both CAMRA Champion Beer of Britain and the Brewing Industry Awards Gold Medal four times.

The company remains in the family and is the last independent brewery of its type left in West Yorkshire.

Given the impracticalities of having a tap room at the brewery to host guests and customers, it was vital to have one of their pubs in Keighley even more closely aligned with the brewery.

This alignment will enable visitors to not only sample a wide range of Taylor’s beers but to also learn about their history and heritage.

We hope Taylor's on the Green is a welcome addition to the town’s leisure offer and as popular with the local population as it is with visitors.
